Troy Police pull woman from icy waters

TROY -Two Troy police officers are credited with a river rescue that saved a woman's life late Thursday night.

Troy police got an emergency 911 call from a fisherman along the banks of the Hudson River at around 11:20 p.m. Thursday police arrived within minutes.

The report was for a woman in the water, at the foot of State Street, near the Captain JP Cruise ship. Officers Brian Strock and Sean McMahon were first on the scene.

They tossed her a line but the woman couldn't grab a hold. So, Officer McMahon jumped on board the Captain JP from a seawall, and found a larger rope, then tossed it to the woman. She was able to grab a hold of that thicker, sturdier rope and she was pulled to safety and apparently just in the nick of time.
