TROY - Troy police have not made any arrests as they continue to investigate this weekend’s homicide.
Forty-year-old Santos Bermudez died Monday after he was severely beaten by a group of men on the Fourth Street bridge early Saturday.
Police say he suffered head trauma from being beat with something like a pipe or baseball bat. A person of interest has been identified, and police tell us those involved may be from Mexico and in the country illegally.
“A lot of challenges, due to the immigration status of other suspects and/or witnesses. This is a case that will likely take some time to resolve,” said Capt. John Cooney of the Troy Police Department.
Police say Bermudez was kept on life support so his organs could be harvested.
