Troy gears up for Earth Day

The city of Troy is gearing up for Earth Day.

Mayor Harry Tutunjian has announced that the city will host Earth Day activities on Saturday, April 30. 

An organizational meeting with neighborhood groups and residents interested in learning more will be held on Monday March 7 at 6 p.m. in Conference Room A of Troy City Hall.

“Earth Day is a great opportunity to get involved in your neighborhood by taking ownership of your area and help cleaning it up.  Whether you’re a regular neighborhood group participant or first-time volunteer, I encourage all residents to attend the organizational meeting,” said Tutunjian in a statement.

Hudson Valley Community College to Host Summer Camp Fair

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 13 in the McDonough Sports Complex on the Hudson Valley campus, 80 Vandenburgh Ave., Troy. More than 20 camps from around the Capital Region are expected to have booths and representatives in attendance.

The event will be co-hosted by Radio Disney and will include a family fun area, clowns, a DJ, music, dancing and a bouncy house for the kids. Parents will be able to speak with summer camp representatives from around the area as well as from Hudson Valley Community College’s own Kids Camps programs. This summer, the college will again offer a variety of athletic camps, as well as Circus Theatricks, Technology Camp, Youth Theater Program, and Summer Academy, a fun educational enrichment program for children.

Forty-four cakes light up to celebrate Troy Night Out

Troy Night Out is celebrating its 4th birthday tonight.

Mayor Harry Tutunjian will join Executive Director of the Troy Business Improvement District, Elizabeth Young along with residents at Troy’s Monument Square to celebrate.

Candles will be lit on 44 cakes to symbolize the 44 Troy Night Outs held over the past 4 years. 

The event is at 6 p.m.

Hawks and owls demonstrate their aerial agility in an exciting free-flight raptor show on both days of Winter Raptor Fest 2011 weekend!

Raptors star in several other Live Bird of Prey programs featuring owls, falcons and hawks that can’t be released back into the wild. Additional event highlights include youth snowshoe races, horse-drawn sleigh rides, environmental education programs, kids activity table and more!

Come and enjoy this one of a kind of event to celebrate Birds of Prey found in the Washington County Grasslands IBA ( Important Bird Area)!

Kids rock band StarFish coming to Kidz Expo

StarFish, "The World's Greatest Rock Band... For Kids!" will be performing THREE FREE SHOWS at Hannaford Kidz Expo on Saturday, March 5 at the Empire State Plaza. Debra Ross from KidsOutAndAbout.com interviews the band and previews their upcoming show.

Snoopy! A  Winter Play

A companion piece to "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown"  using material taken directly from Schultz’s comic strips.  The songs are unbelievably catchy!  It's a lively, fun musical show for kids and their adults.  Snoopy, Woodstock, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, and Peppermint Patty will all be there!

Snoopy! A Winter Play will be showing at Emma Willard in the Kiggins Hall Auditorium in Troy.
